Whit the Aurus 4 CL, beginners learn the first hand positions and prepare themselves to play on the completty assembled compoud clarinet.
The ideea of the Aurus 4CL also proves its worth for the usage in groups. There is no integrated thumb rest, so the weight of the clarinet does not weigh on the thumb. Due to this position the right hand does not change until the student begins to practise in lower posture. A finger rest for thelittle finger helps to spread out the other fingers and to positions them over the right fingerings
It also simplifies playing on the speaker key whit the left thumb, which is one of the first steps (the student is advised to play as early as possible in the second register).
Application Description:
Aurus 4CL and Aurus 4KL are helpful tools for clarinet beginners.
They were developed for the French Boehm (Aurus 4CL) as well as the German Oehler (Aurus 4KL) clarinet system.
Story:
In my professional experience as a clarinet teacher for years I noticed that the weight of the complete clarinet can influence first important steps in a negative way.
The wrong position due to torsion of the right wrist and moving away the grasping fingers from the grips
The embouchure and air stake are going to be neglected
The left thumb’s inaccurate position and difficulties at pushing the register key
This tool must be mounted on the primary body of the clarinet. In this manner beginniers learn – only with the upper tile – to keep embouchure and the position of the left hand unchanged since start.
„To concentrate at the essentials is the purpose of Aurus 4“
Position:
Unlike ordinary clarinets Aurus 4CL / Aurus 4KL has not got a thumb holder for the right hand in order to leave the hand position stable as long as unused. Thus tension on the thumb is reduced.
The holding function is overtaken by the fourth finger.
Additionally this practicing tool is equipped with an orange-colored silicone holder for the left hand’s little finger which is supposed to be an aid for avoid possible mistakes because of bad fingering and leading the fingers to the correct grips.
At the same time it covers the adjustable screw.
Aurus 4 also includes leading tone „B“ – beginners cannot only add many more songs to their repertoire, but train their hearing too.
Very recommended: Practicing within the second register early.
Since the second register is mastered quite late the thumb’s position alters over time. Therefore, contact to the register key is lost, leading to wrong fingering when it is pressed.
Playing within the second register trains air pressure for the final success in sound.
Have fun with Aurus 4!
